Recognizing
that the life science and biotechnology cluster is powerful and unlike
any other industry, the Recruitment and Retention Committee is responsible
for the growth, recruitment and incubation of life science and biotechnology-based
companies. Members will also work with local companies to assist with
expansion plans. In order to attract new business investment, this
committee will focus on workforce and capital development, as well
as other business concerns.
OBJECTIVES
- Work
with universities and various educational institutions to develop
and attract talent to the region, particularly scientists and engineers
creating new knowledge pipelines.
- Promote
actions that will lead to new business development and partnering
opportunities in the life science and biotechnology community.
- Identify
developers in the industry who can potentially invest to help recruit
new companies to the region.
- Identify
synergies; determine who to chase; find elements to help connect
the dots for companies in this sector.
- Connect
with individuals and companies, such as University of Central Florida's
Technology Incubator, Alexandria, EFI and ISPE.
- Assist
in commercialization and technology transfer of intellectual property
from academic and research institutions, emphasizing commercialization
to regional companies.
- Support
academic and research institutions in identifying opportunities for
resource sharing or obtaining new, regional resources and partnerships
with the private sector.
